The Ray A. Lewis Foundation was founded through love, resilience, and a commitment to creating positive change within the community.
In 2015, Ray A. Lewis tragically lost his life to gun violence in Gary. In the midst of heartbreak, our family made the decision to honor his life and legacy through service, outreach, and community impact.
On the 10-year anniversary of Ray’s passing, we celebrated his legacy by hosting our first annual back-to-school community event — bringing families together through support, resources, school supplies, and youth empowerment. What began as a way to honor Ray’s memory has now grown into a movement focused on mentorship, wellness, education, sports, and outreach programs that uplift children and families throughout Northwest Indiana.
Founded by Leah Lewis, a dedicated nurse, entrepreneur, and community leader, alongside her sister Aniah Lewis, the foundation is committed to restoring hope and creating opportunities for the next generation.
Today, the Ray A. Lewis Foundation continues to serve the community through toy drives, turkey giveaways, basketball camps, autism awareness initiatives, and programs designed to inspire, empower, and strengthen local youth and families.
Empowering Youth. Strengthening Community. Honoring Legacy.
